"Joshua Wyborn is an exciting new photographer whose work has the spirit of the classic black and white masters of the past. His love of photography is infectious and can impress you even before you’ve seen his first image! Joshua is a photographer to keep your eye on." - Cole Thompson
Why monotone? I find monotone more interesting than colour because you see the image behind the coloured mask and the stories behind the image. I am also colour blind, this does not mean I cannot see colour, it simply means my mind gets confused by some colours. This means I think and see in tones. I also belive monotone an abstraction of the world we see, therefore making us look deeper into the image, and in its abstractness we can find more truth. Creating beautiful contradiction. |

Hello, welcome to my website. As you may have guessed, my name is Joshua Wyborn. Currently 20 years old (born on the 19/08/1991). In 2008, I found my love for photography and started taking it serious, at least more than happy snapping. Until that point, I never knew what I really wanted to do. I am dyslexic and so struggled to get any good grades all the way through my schools years. However, I decided to go to college and study art, my best subject other than music. Within five minutes of seeing my portfolio, they told me I was in. as I started studying fine art more and more, I found out it was more than just paintings and I could make my art through many other mediums. I could paint rather well in my style but it was limiting. Then one day I decided to get a digital camera and that was when the explosion of photographic knowledge started and I started to find where I was meant to be. In the 2nd year of my studies we did a section in photography and traditional darkroom methods that has stuck with me to this day. Even though most of my images are created digitally, I take pride in the lack of editing they receive. With the input of my father, who also has a passion for photography, my skills quickly developed. In addition, the input of other photographers such as Cole Thompson has helped me grow in so many ways. I thank him for advice in photography and general life. He is truly a humble man. Why monotone? I find monotone more interesting than colour as you get to see the image behind the coloured mask and the stories behind the image. I am also colour blind, this does not mean I cannot see colour it simply means my mind gets confused by some colours. I do not think about colours I think about tones. It is very hard to explain, I see in colour but I do not process it as colour I think about its tones. I also find monotone a abstraction of the world we see, therefore making us look deeper into the image and in its abstractness finding more truth. A beautiful contradiction. I am studying photography at the university of Cumbria from September 2009-12. Where I hope to learn a lot and to grow within my photographic world. Please feel free to search the galleries and to contact me.
