Shiona & Ryans handfasting wedding ceremony was beautiful. It was lovely, funny and above all, all-inclusive. It was more a celebration of who they are as a couple and the family they have created together than a traditional wedding day. All with the amazing backdrop of the Pennines in the distance as a stunning High Barn Wedding at Edenhall, just outside of Penrith, can only do.
Handfasting, is where the phrase “Tying the Knot” comes from and it is literally that. Every handfasting is different and on this occasion members of the bridal and groom parties were given a different colour ribbon each. These ribbons symbolised different aspects of love and the promises Shiona & Ryan made to each other in their vows. At the end, these ribbons were tied into a knot to stay forever as a never-ending circle, much like the weddings rings.
Formally becoming a family in this celebration, in front of family and friends, Shiona & Ryan were joined by Finn & Kenna alongside their godparents who also made public declarations to stand strong with this young family in all of their adventures.
