Julie-Ann and Mark chose the magnificent Muncaster Castle for there big day, and what a stunning venue it is!
Its impressive to hear that the Pennington family have Muncaster castle in the family for over 800 years! It is also believed to be built upon Roman ruins. Not only is is it a fantastic Cumbrian venue to walk around the grounds and castle. There is a fantastic hawk and owl centre where you can see some of the most beautiful animals I have ever seen. I would highly recommend a day out to this fab place. Or even night time, if you fancy seeing Muncasters ghosts!
With all of this going on its impressive to find that Muncaster also facilitate weddings in a beautiful way. Julie-Ann and Mark said “I do” in the castles library surrounded by history, books and about 30 of their nearest and dearest. followed by a wedding breakfast in a nearby grand hall and then an evening reception in the nearby stable yard where the party really started.
When Julie-Ann first contacted me it was apparent straight away that this lady was full of style and design with wonderful ideas at hand. She also asked me what I would like to do as a photographer and told me to let my ideas run wild… And so they did. I started researching smoke bombs, and with the castles permission we let a few of them off for a photograph! 8 year old best-man Leo was very happy to find out that I would help him set one of the smoke bombs off. I may just interject here and say that he basically just held it as I also held it a full arms length away with his parents near by, totally safe, I even gave him a little debriefing about what to do and how, and what to do if it went wrong (you can tell I used to write risk assessments)!
The love of these guys is ridiculously contagious, you just have to be near them to feel the confidence, pride and romance they hold for each other. It was a privilege to photograph them.
