When you live in Cumbria and have the Lake district on your doorstep, the Idea of a DIY wedding is almost impossible to ignore. Emmy & Ste took their skills, Emmy as a community artist and Ste as a Gardener, and created their truly epic Lake District DIY Wedding! Ste originally from Manchester and Emmy from Wiltshire moved up to the Lakes 7 years ago when they fell in love with the area. Little did they know that only after a few years of being in the lakes their paths would cross from online dating.
They instantly fell for each other as they hold the same values and dreams as each other alongside their love for the outdoors, typically in their converted van exploring the lakes and Scotland. It's the outdoors where they chose to have their wedding, in their own garden in fact which has been beautifully made into an upcoming glamping spot with winding paths and firepits galore. Sadly, the good ol' Cumbrian weather decided to play its cards and in a mad rush the ceremony changed from outside to inside the marquee, it did, however, bring a wonderful sense of closeness for everyone witnessing this great moment. We braved the rain and ventured outside to plant two trees, which over the years should grow to entwine and become one.
Pretty much everything you see has been done by the couple themselves with family and friends help alongside Emmy's beautiful wedding dress, wedding dress 1 of 2... Originally made by her Great Grandmother, and worn by her Grandmother in 1956. It has since been altered for her Aunties wedding, and now for Emmy herself. I just adore stories like these in weddings. 4 generations of pure love have gone into this dress... Don't worry, for the night reception the dress changed to a fab 50's style ready for the amazing Moonlight Trio rockabilly set which blew the roof off!
As always, have a look at the below slideshow and images from this epic day. If you would like me to photograph your big day, please feel free to contact me!
Everything besides Myself and the band was done by family and friends!
