While it has only been two days since my last Covid-19 wedding blog “Covid-19 How Will It Affect Your Wedding” It is necessary to write even more and explain some proactive plans for a Covid-19 Free Wedding.
With the ever-changing advice from the government, it’s hard to know what to do with the current Covid-19 issue. As far as we know this may last weeks, months maybe even a year. However long it lasts, it won’t last as long as your feelings towards each other. So let’s look at some proactive ways to have a Covid-19 Free Wedding.
We have just been told to avoid the pub but with no fixed capacity of event to avoid. In Scotland, for example, its events larger than 500 people, its all very much up to ‘us’ and venues when it comes to weddings.
I’m still acting as usual and always plan to attend all weddings, elopements and events that I am contracted to. Whilst I currently do not show any signs of it, should I develop symptoms, my usual sickness protocol stands. I have a vast network of photographers who I can ask to cover your wedding day or event. Meetings can always be made by skype, phone call and as always by email.
If you’re not feeling great and we have a couple portrait session booked, we can rearrange this to another date, even after your wedding day should you wish.
When it comes to the actual wedding, there are three proactive options to choose from, none of which include panic and snap decisions.
- Carry on as usual but ensure any guest who has symptoms must not attend. Also, any high-risk guests should not attend. Can you potentially let them watch via skype? I have photographed several weddings where ill guests were streaming the wedding ceremony.
- Can you elope? Keep the wedding but make it very small. When this has all calmed down, you can have a big party! Not only does this mean you save hassle for yourself, you get to wear your dresses and suits all over again!
- Postpone. This is the last resort and potentially risky as you may lose out on payments already made. Most insurance companies are not paying out due to “fear” of the virus. They will only pay out if the venue has cancelled on you. Not the other way around. I will work with everyone as hard as I can to make new dates work, so please do notify me as soon as you’re considering this move and we can work together on a new date.
We are all in a rather unprecedented situation. Still, please bear in mind that all of your suppliers have real people who run them and are being massively affected by this virus. We are all working together as much as possible to help you at this time.
