Autumn & Winter Weddings

Summer may be the most popular season to get married in England, but the Autumn and Winter months are an excellent time to book your celebration. These seasons come with their own set of perks, and we’ll take a look at a few so you can choose if a winter wedding is for you.
1. Weather
Although you need to plan in case the day turns to rain, the chances are you will get the opportunity to be outside for photographs.
Your wedding photographs in Autumn and Winter can take advantage of the softer light, and the earlier evenings mean you can capture amazing sunset or evening shots. Even in the pitch black of night, I adore taking breathtaking portraits.
2. Travel
Autumn and Winter months can help your guests if they have to travel from out of town to your wedding. Excluding the School term holidays, airfares and hotels can be much cheaper, saving your guests a small fortune. (You can probably get a room deal at your venue or close by if they feel you can fill them for the evening.) However, don’t forget to plan ahead for surprise bad weather and have a contingency plan for those travelling.
3. Availability
As the Autumn and Winter months are typically less busy, You are more likely able to book your dream winter wedding suppliers. Meaning you’re more likely to get everything you want for your big day rather than having to make compromises.
Most people choose Summer for their holidays, so by choosing an off-peak season for your wedding, it means more people who you wish to invite are more likely to be able to be there on your special day.
4. Themes
Autumn and Winter’s colour themes are always incredible for weddings; crisp oranges, reds, browns, vibrant yellows and golds. These all make a perfect backdrop to any photographs.
In the colder months, you’re more likely to have roaring fires, blankets, candlelight and many natural materials can be brought in to theme your wedding.
5. Honeymoon
If you choose to honeymoon in the UK you will be able to get some fantastic deals as rental properties go into their low season. I can personally recommend the Scottish Highlands and Islands or the Isle of Man as being breathtaking all year round.
However, as the temperature drops here places such as Australia, South Africa, Indonesia and the Caribbean are just beginning to heat up. They could be a perfect destination to jet off to on an exotic holiday.
Autumn & Winter weddings are a beautiful relaxing time to celebrate your union, using natural materials to tie your celebration to the season cannot only look stunning but can be cost-effective as well. I hope I’ve given you a few reasons to consider this overlooked season for your wedding celebration.
