Now, if you have been following my work, you might just recognise this amazing couple! Way back in 2022, I photographed Chris’s proposal to Heather in The Lake District, A couple of portrait session at Thirlemere, also in The Lake District and finally, to bring us up to date. Their wedding day at Mar Hall Hotel Golf & Spa resort, just outside of Glasgow, Scotland.
Chris and Heather’s love story began in April 2020, amid the uncertainty of the first COVID-19 lockdown. Just days after Heather’s 27th birthday, they connected on Bumble. The constraints of the pandemic meant their initial dates were virtual via FaceTime, providing them with a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of each other from afar.
Their first in-person meeting took place at the end of May 2020. It was an unexpectedly significant occasion, as Chris not only met Heather but was also introduced to her parents who returned early from a trip. This day marked the beginning of many shared memories.

Inspired by the grandeur of “Bridgerton,” Chris and Heather aimed for a classic, elegant wedding ambience, highlighted by a classical string quartet and a large gathering of family and friends. They found the perfect venue for this Mar Hall wedding, not only for its luxury wedding venue vibes but also because of its golf heritage, which Chris, a keen golfer, loved!
Stepping into Mar Hall for the first time, Chris and Heather were instantly captivated by its traditional charm, the breathtaking original oak panelling wedding ceremony room, and the serene gardens. With each subsequent visit, their excitement grew, and after sampling the menu, they knew without a doubt that this was the venue of their dreams.
In 2023, Chris and Heather immersed themselves in wedding festivities, attending 11 weddings in total. These events not only heightened their excitement for their own day but also allowed them to gather ideas and decide what elements they would incorporate into their wedding ceremony & celebration.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I adore photographing new venues too; it lets me get creative and seek out locations for portraits with fresh eyes. The garden, grounds and building itself are honestly stunning and diverse enough to create a really diverse set of portraits for couples’ photos in beautiful surroundings.
