I have to say its one amazing thing about being based in Carlisle, just how close to Scotland we are and how many weddings cross borders. Sharon and Jim's wedding crossed two countries and three venues. Ending in a Skitby House wedding reception!
I showed up to where Sharon and many family and friends were staying at Glingerbank house, a huge house just outside of Longtown for some bridal prep photographs and to document the general chaos. From there we headed to their local parish Kirk (church) of Ewes Kirk in Scotland, which I have only ever driven past before, but it is a gorgeous little church, for the wedding ceremony itself before heading back to England for a big wedding reception at Skitby House!
"We chose to get married in Ewes kirk for what it is, which is a small old farming community kirk with all the old quirky things that go with it like the church bell lodged in a tree outside. Our minister has moved on to a parish in Glasgow but is coming back to marry us, he's not your run of the mill minister Scott is amazing loves to join in always has a smile and can be really witty. He's everyone's pal, young and old.
Skitby has the same feeling with its cosy setting and twinkling lights it creates the atmosphere itself. All that's needed is the people. Both Chris and Katherine do an amazing job. I think it is fair to say that we love quirky, cosy and twinkling lights both the above tick all the boxes. Perfect!"
Sharon also had an amazing bespoke made wedding dress which you should keep an eye on as not only is it Jim's family tartan but it is also reversible! How cool is that?!
