Anvil Hall & The Halston Hotel Wedding

Kirsty and Darren said their vows at the Anvil Hall in Gretna followed by their reception at The Halston Hotel in Carlisle. Both being Scottish and living in the English city of Carlisle, they wanted to get married in Scotland but also keep the party close to home. So naturally, it made sense to hop over the border into Gretna for their ceremony. I must admit, it is awesome living so close to the border, I adore Scotland!

They both love The Halston Hotel, and wanted their wedding reception there as they love the clean, modern and timeless look that it has. Alongside the newly created gardens at the back of the hotel, it was the perfect city-centre venue to hold their wedding reception with all their family and friends.

I stayed with this gorgeous bunch of people for a few hours from the last moments of Kirsty's bridal prep to the speeches which gave us plenty of time to explore The Halston Hotel grounds and roof for some awesome portraits. I even decided to stay a little later than planned to capture the last photograph on this blog which included a few lights, a handy bridesmaid with some atmosphere aerosol and a bucket of water which I poured onto the ground from the kitchen. I realise I may have looked a little mad but I think the final image is worth it!

It was amazing being with these two as they just went along with my ideas and creativity as it struck, including when I dragged them away and stod them in front of some mirrors for a few moments! Knowing I have the creative freedom to try things totally pays off!

Anyway, that’s enough from me, have a look at the below slideshow and images from this epic day. If you would fancy a Halston Hotel Wedding and would like me to photograph your big day, please feel free to contact me!
