A Love Forged in Friendship (and Heavy Metal!)
Rae & Tony’s love story goes back years—literally! They had been good friends for years before finally getting together in 2012, bonding over their love of festivals, gigs, and adventures. They even spent 18 months long-distance while Rae worked as a nurse in Newcastle before finally moving in together. By the time they got married, they had already shared 11 years of laughter, music, and road trips in their campervan!
The Perfect Venue Choice
Kirklinton Hall was the first venue they ever looked at—over 2.5 years before their wedding, before it was even under the care of the current wonderful owners. They were drawn back for another visit and knew it was the one! The venue’s rich history, charm, and uniqueness made it the perfect backdrop for their relaxed, fun-filled day.
A Stunning Outdoor Ceremony at Kirklinton Hall
The couple chose the breathtaking Kirklinton Hall for their wedding, with an outdoor ceremony on the terrace. The autumn sunshine made everything even more magical as they exchanged vows in a heartfelt and laid-back ceremony, surrounded by their closest friends and family.
A Marquee Celebration with a Rock ‘n’ Roll Twist
After the ceremony, the celebrations moved to a marquee in the gardens, where Rae & Tony’s personalities shone through every detail. The meal? Pie and mash! A proper hearty feast that went down an absolute treat. Later in the evening, guests were spoiled for choice with a pizza van, an ice cream van, and plenty of drinks to keep the party going.
Decorations were homemade, repurposed, and full of personality—from dried flowers and empty booze bottles to a handmade archway, postbox, and crisp wall, all crafted by Tony. A special guest also made an appearance—Cardboard Ted the cat, along with a cardboard campervan photo frame, tying in their love of van life!
And, of course, it wouldn’t be Rae & Tony’s wedding without live rock music! A live band brought the energy, with plenty of dancing, headbanging, and probably a little air guitar thrown in for good measure. The dance floor was full of silly antics and non-stop fun from start to finish!
A Wedding as Unique as They Are
From their climbing and bouldering adventures to, wild swims, and festival memories, Rae & Tony’s wedding was a perfect reflection of everything they love. It was a day filled with laughter, love, and post-fell-walk pints, just as it should be!
Congratulations, Rae & Tony—here’s to many more adventures together in Sky Van and beyond!
