My style is a mix of 95% candid and 5% fine art portraits. That’s the perfect combination to catch the natural flow of your wedding day. Your Uncle falling asleep, that spilt wine all over someone’s dress, or those crazy dance moves from someone you didn’t know had the skills! Whilst also creating gorgeous portraits representing you as a couple and the laughter of all your guests having a great time.
The Lake District is beautiful, one of the best places for your wedding – so we can get as adventurous as you like. Want to find a cave or hike mid-way through your wedding? No problem! Want to venture into your wedding venue grounds for some portraits? Great! Even if the great Cumbrian weather turns, we can embrace it or head inside for creative fine art portraits. I’ve recently moved to Sheffield next to the beautiful Peak District and in the stunning county of Yorkshire, bringing years of experience capturing the Lake District’s weddings, elopements, and heartfelt moments. The Peaks have already captured my heart just as the Lakes always have, and I’m thrilled to start documenting love stories in this stunning new landscape.

Whether you’re looking for something quick, like a one-hour ceremony and a few portraits, or you want to go all out with 10 to 12 hours of coverage of your big day (and hey, you can always tack on a few more hours if you fancy), I’ve got you covered.

Being a Lake District wedding and elopement photographer based in Cumbria I get to travel and see the incredible landscape this county has to offer at least once a week. I think the Lake District is the perfect location for a wedding or elopement wedding photography as it offers a beautiful contrast of pure luxury and ruggedness all in the same location. Its the perfect setting for breathtaking wedding photos. Wedding Photography
The Lake District is a great location to get married, with a huge choice and a wonderful variety of traditional wedding venues inside the national park alongside more quirky venues, like rustic barns or Tipi’s and Marquees on the shore of a lake. I enjoy creating wedding photos that use elements of your Lake District wedding venue or scenic location to reflect in your wedding photographs.
Through my Lake District wedding photography, I aim to create unique memories for every couple, and I often use creative lighting to achieve visual art that you will be proud to have on a wall in your home to provide happy memories of your wedding and special day for years to come. As you can see in the photo, I embrace any rainy weather. Puddles are great for reflection photos, and rain can be lit up to frame you both with sparkles.
Lake District Elopement Photography
Elopement is a term used for a mini wedding where it’s just the two of you. (And maybe a few family and friends). During these mini Elopement weddings (sometimes it’s called a Micro Wedding or Intimate Wedding), we’ll have more time to spend using the dramatic vistas the Lake District is famed for.
Adventure with me to spots with great views, whilst we create natural, authentic and special moments whilst you’re framed with the hills and water of locations like Thirlmere, Lake Windermere, or the stunning Eskdale Valley. If it’s a Cumbria wedding, we have a choice of a number of beautiful waterfalls. If you’ve chosen one of Cumbria’s mini weddings venues like Cragwood or Storrs Hall, I can share some local knowledge and insider tips on great locations for wedding portraits.
I personally love exploring in the lake district, and while I have provided a wedding photography service at many of the regions wedding venues. Lake District and Cumbria based wedding photographer
Funnily enough, it was not my intention to be a Lake District wedding photographer at all. Originally from the flat lands of Norfolk, I moved up to Carlisle for university, where I studied photography and successfully completed my degree. All of my photography at the time was either a basis for my fine art paintings, or landscape photographs.
Moving to Cumbria gave me the chance to discover the county and nearby Lake District, plus Wales was only a short distance away, Scotland was even closer and Ireland wasn’t too far away either. As you can probably tell, it was all about the landscape. However, through university, I started photographing events and I began my street photography which then led into a small job with the BBC as a photojournalist.
It was only when a classmate of mine asked me to photograph his wedding day, that I even considered being a wedding photographer. It combined the fun of an event with the beauty of photojournalism and it required the use of light found in my landscape work. It seemingly ticked all of my boxes and my life as a wedding photographer was born.
Now several years in, I’m used to travelling all over the UK and sometimes further afield, photographing weddings and telling love stories through creative wedding photography. I honestly love what I do and I hope you enjoy my work too.
Wedding Venues in The Lake District & Cumbria
With so many perfect Lake District Wedding Venues varying across all styles and locations across Cumbria it would be hard not to find your ideal wedding venue. From castles like Muncaster Castle. Stately homes such as Storrs Hall & Armathwaite hall. To Michelin Starred Venues like The Gilpin & Askham Hall – Bank Barn.
You can say your wedding vows in the fells at The Coppermines above Coniston Water. Or in a beautiful barn on a working farm like Three Hills Barn. You can even Get married outside by a lake at Cumbria venues such as The Inn On The Lake on Ullswater or one of the many wedding venues around lake Windermere.
Cumbrian National Park Wedding Locations
As a lake district wedding photographer, I am very lucky to call The Lake District my “Extended Back Garden” as I live only a few minutes away from the Lake District national park, which is one of three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty that Cumbria has to offer. The Lake District was designated World Heritage Status by Unesco in 2017 meaning that its stunning views will be here to stay and that they are protected for future generations.
This means that your wedding day will always have stunning views for you to remember your wedding ceremony and reception for. Even better, the backdrops are incredible for your wedding photography and wedding portraits regardless of a sunny Cumbrian day or a typically wet lake district vibe you will always have incredible sights to remember from the fell tops of Muncaster Fell or Skidaw to the shores of Lake Windermere or Derwentwater, for example.
Honeymoon In The Lakes
While a lot of people decide to travel abroad for their honeymoon, many stay inside the UK with The Lake District being one of the top locations. Full of adventure, stunning romantic views and incredible food. It’s easy to see why it’s an amazing place to be to celebrate.
When you think about it getting married in Cumbria and then having some time away for your honeymoon in The Lake District, it makes sense. There way less faff about travelling and you get to enjoy world heritage views and activities from fell walking, boat trips out on the steamers or a rowing boat. To spa days and 5-star Michelin dining experiences.
It’s also a great excuse to come back every year and explore even more of what Cumbria has to offer.
