Peak District Post-Wedding Portrait Session

A couple in wedding attire embraces on a rocky hilltop, overlooking a vast rural landscape with rolling hills and a clear blue sky.

Some weddings are so full of love and energy that they stick with you, and Paul and Kira’s summer wedding at Hidden River Cabins was definitely one of them. Their big day, which you can check out here, was packed with laughter, joy, and a real love for the outdoors. So, when they suggested a post-wedding portrait session in the stunning Peak District, I was all in!

A Walk Through Padley Gorge

We kicked things off in Padley Gorge on a beautiful morning, with sunlight streaming through the trees and a peaceful stillness in the air. This woodland, full of ancient trees, moss-covered rocks, and winding streams, felt like the perfect place to capture some relaxed and natural shots of Paul and Kira. The early light filtering through the trees gave everything a soft, almost magical glow as they wandered the trails, shared a few quiet laughs, and soaked in the atmosphere.

One of my favourite shots was by the stream, where Kira’s dress caught the light just right as Paul pulled her in for a hug. Moments like that, where it’s just the two of them in their own little world, make for some of the best photos.

Sunny and Hazy at Curbar Edge

From the woodland, we headed up to Curbar Edge, one of the best spots in the Peak District for epic views. By the time we arrived, it was lunchtime, and the sun was high, casting a warm yet hazy light over the landscape. The soft haze gave the scene a dreamy feel, making for some beautiful, atmospheric shots. The wind picked up slightly, giving Kira’s dress and Paul’s jacket a bit of movement, which looked amazing in the photos.

Standing on the edge of the cliffs, looking out over the rolling hills and valleys, it was clear why they chose this spot. The scenery is breathtaking, and the contrast between the dramatic rocks and their quiet moments together made for some stunning images. With the midday sun creating a gentle glow over the landscape, Paul and Kira standing against the horizon was a proper moment to remember.

Why Do a Post-Wedding Portrait Session?

If you love the outdoors or just fancy some extra photos in a relaxed setting, a post-wedding shoot is a great idea. There’s no stress, no rushing, just a chance to enjoy the moment and get some incredible pictures in a location you love. Plus, who doesn’t want an excuse to wear their wedding outfit again?

Paul and Kira’s session in Padley Gorge and Curbar Edge was an absolute dream to photograph. They embraced the scenery, the weather, and each other, making for some unforgettable shots. If you’re thinking about a post-wedding shoot in the Peak District, let’s make it happen!
