Nikki & Dan first met online while playing World Of Warcraft and for four years their relationship was mainly internet based as they both lived a considerable distance apart, although they did spend every other weekend together as and when they could. They however both agreed it was worth the hardship to power through the long distance challenges they faced. Then COVID hit. We all know our lives turned upside down, however, it also meant an opportunity for Dan to uproots and move closer to Nikki. By late 2020 they were living together.
Nikki contacted me about photographing their elopement at the start of 2023, telling me everything about them and the plans it was hard for me to say no. They also bought along Dan's best mate since...well forever! As he was a witness, and I was the second witness to the marriage.
"We picked our venue because the Lake District is a place we both love, and Windermere particularly is one of our favorite locations. The Cragwood Hotel is old-school romantic and secluded, which is perfect for us. We specifically chose an elopement-style wedding as we wanted to have a day for just ourselves (and our one friend acting as a witness) away from all the drama and politics of everyday life, so the location spoke to us for that reason."
