Intimate Spring Wedding at Macdonald Leeming House

Ashley and Jonathan’s wedding day at Macdonald Leeming House, nestled on the edge of Ullswater in the Lake District, was nothing short of magical. With clear blue skies and warm spring sunshine, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect for their intimate celebration at one of Cumbria’s most beautiful wedding venues.

Their love story started all the way back when they were just seven years old. Their families had caravans on the same holiday site, and most weekends were spent running around together. Even back then, their older sisters would joke about them having a crush on one another. As teenagers, they lost touch when their families stopped visiting the site—but fate had other plans.

Years later, Ashley’s mum bumped into Jonathan, who was then working as a taxi driver. She asked if he’d mind picking Ashley up from a night out to make sure she got home safe. That one car ride turned into a text, which turned into a date on the 3rd of May 2009—and they’ve been together ever since.

Over the years, they’ve built a beautiful life together: buying their first home, welcoming their first son Franklin, and then their second son Tommy in 2021. It was during the gender reveal for Tommy that Jonathan proposed—another unforgettable moment in their journey together.

The couple had always dreamt of a relaxed wedding without the fuss. Originally considering an elopement shoot around Buttermere, they later decided on something just as meaningful—a private and personal Lake District weddingceremony. When they visited Macdonald Leeming House, they instantly fell in love with the peaceful gardens and panoramic views across Ullswater.

Their ceremony took place on a warm spring day with the sun beaming down, the lake shimmering in the background, and the gentle hum of birdsong in the air. With just a handful of loved ones present, Ashley and Jonathan said their vows surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Ullswater Valley.

The charm of Leeming House lies in its mix of elegance and natural beauty. From its manicured gardens to its sweeping lake views, it offers a truly romantic setting for small weddings in the Lake District. It was exactly what Ashley and Jonathan had hoped for—a laid-back, intimate day that was deeply personal and full of meaning.

From childhood sweethearts at a caravan park to a heartfelt wedding at one of Ullswater’s most scenic wedding venues, Ashley and Jonathan’s story is a beautiful reminder that some love stories really are meant to be.
